Kind of, I think. It appears like bitching about shit on your blog can actually be beneficial at times. I figure I can ride out my new wave of energy for all of, I don’t know, 15 more minuets maybe? (laugh)
Have you ever noticed that when you’re really tired, you get all scatterbrained? Like you just keep jumping from one thought to another, but quickly enough that you really can’t hold on to one for long enough to act on it? That’s kinda how I have been all day. And I also have this tendency to get real negative about life when I’m sleepy which is never fun.
We are now the proud owners of our own little tiny slice of Tokyo! And yes, in case you were wondering, that is in fact the wifey sitting on a box of diapers.
The plot of land we bought came complete with an old house on it — so technically I guess you can say this is our first house. Don’t get too attached though, because we are going to have to tear it down in the next week or so. It’s actually a lot more ragged than I have shown in the photos and it is old enough now where it is really beyond repair. It also has a nice mold smell, not to mention all the other fundamental problems with it.
It’s kind of sad really. I think we are going to have to go visit one more time and say goodbye before the destruction date. I think that’s probably why the previous owners wouldn’t clear the lot themselves. Probably too much emotional attachment. I understand — I feel kind of bad and it isn’t even mine.
I mean, well, it is now of course but — fuck it, you know what I mean.
Did I mention we are utterly broke?
Last Wednesday was the wifey’s birthday so me and some friends whipped up a quick surprise party. Everyone gathered at the station near my house around 6 and I stopped in to pass off a copy of my keys, the cake, and a case of beer. Lorne handled the organization from that end as well as bringing an ass-ton of food.
I went home from there, fed the princess, and asked the wifey to go out shopping with me. I had planted the seed earlier that I was going to make dinner that night (so she wouldn’t before I got home), and I used that as an excuse to get her out of the house. We went to a store in the opposite direction and I sent Lorne a mail on my cell phone when we left. He guided everyone in and they all rushed to set up.
So we get back in the house and all is dark. All good, except for the fact that it reeks of fried chicken. I had the princess with me (just to make sure she didn’t get dropped on the floor or anything) and the wifey went ahead, which would have been fine if she went into the living room, but she went to the kitchen instead. She mentioned something about the suspicious pack of carrots and tomatoes on the counter and I babbled out some pathetic excuse about buying them on my way back from work — which of course made absolutely no sense whatsoever. Why the fuck would I come home from work with carrots and tomatoes? Anyway, it was enough to keep her confused for long enough to go into the living room and…
The wifey was thrilled and we both had a hell of a time. Just want to pass a quick thanks to all the people that helped out and made it such a fun evening!
Second day into my blog upgrade and so far so good. Looks like my spam is being filtered a lot better now (or maybe spammers just take weekend holidays?) so for the moment I’m going to leave things as they are. If it gets bad again I guess I will just have to go back and add a verification code or something.
Today we picked up a rent-a-car and drove out to Ikea. I drive like maybe two times a year at best now and every other time it is in a different country it seems. I don’t even pay attention to what side of the road I should be driving on anymore. I just go where the other cars are going or at worst, just get out of the way of any cars aimed straight for me.
Anyhow, believe it or not today was the first time I have ever been to an Ikea before. The one here in Tokyo is a big warehouse (are they all like that?) and I have to say it was all really cheap and they had some cool stuff. We mainly just went looking considering we couldn’t fit any new shit in our apartment anyway but we did pick up some food there. Pretty fun.
So tomorrow it is back to work. Oh, and the wifey has a birthday coming up this Wednesday so everyone be nice and wish her a good one!
The princess took an afternoon nap today which meant it took us forever to get her to sleep. She finally passed out while I got up to get a cigarette and the wifey was passed out too right along side her when I came back in. I debated with myself for about an hour if I should wake her up or not but she just looked too peaceful. I figure she needs the extra hour or so for a change.
Anyhow, I spent my time upgrading WordPress and I think I finally got all the kinks worked out. To be honest, I probably had about a million other better uses for my time but the blog was on my mind tonight, now it’s not, and so there.
Now maybe I can go get a little sleep.
